markbeckuaf
Man what a coolio flick!!! From 1935 and part of director William Seiter's tribute yesterday, I really dug this one! I had forgotten I'd seen it before, but it came back to me pretty quickly, however I still really grooved to Herbert Marshall (great role for him!!) and Jean Arthur and of course the gangsters, Leo Carillo and his number 1 henchman, Lionel Stander!!! Funny and romantic, it's a nice bridge from pre-code to screwball without too much of either, but enough of both to make it a fun watch! This has been the only flick from the daytime tribute I've had a chance to see so far, but hoping to catch up as the week progresses! A lot of Seiter's flix looked awesome!!! willbefree25
I guess I turned it off. I can't remember the ending. Must have been annoying me for some reason. How did it end?
movieman1957
Jean Arthur is always wonderful but Herbert Marshall was a nice surprise. I had only seen him in more serious roles but I thought he had a very nice touch. It may not be up there with some of Jean's best but it's fun. willbefree25
So he left his rich wife at the altar, coward that he was, who no doubt sued him for alienation of affections and married Jean Arthur? Is that how it ended?
