RMeingast
Has anybody seen this advertisement for reproductions from the Frank Worth Collection: http://freegift.giftography.net/ The local paper has an ad. that states that if you subscribe for home delivery, you get one of these things as a "gift": https://edition.sunmedia.ca/cs/BlobServer?blobkey=id&blobnocache=true&blobwhere=1297345866145&blobheader=application%2Fpdf&blobcol=urlbinarydata&blobtable=Attachment The print is supposedly worth $149.00 and the subscription cost is $99.00 (for that you get the paper for six months and the litho)... Just wondering if anybody has taken up this offer and has one of the lithos?? It seems to me it's the type of thing - the reproduction - that'll be worth $0.99 at the garage sale in 10 years?? Anybody know anything??? Sorta strange too that newspapers would be offering this deal... You'd think an outfit like TCM would be offering this deal when you buy a DVD set or something from the TCM Shop - "Licensed Lithograph of Your Favourite Classic Hollywood Icon." twinkeee
As you know, a lithograph is worth a lot more than a print, (a print can be made for pennies). The Calgary SUN is a reputable Newspaper, I cannot see them making this offer if it were not legit. Sounds to me like you would be buying the Lithograph and getting the subscription for free! A lot of the publishing companies are having a hard time right now and would do ANYTHING to get the advertising $$$$s

A lot of the publishing companies are having a hard time right now and would do ANYTHING to get the advertising $$$$s Thanks, Twinkeee... Think all the Sun Media newspapers are offering the deal... I just used the "Calgary Sun" ad as an example... I don't live in that city... Yes, Sun Media in need of subscribers, as are all newspapers, I guess... Just wondered if anyone had taken the offer and had a litho? Also if newspapers in US were offering same deal? And I'm certainly not pushing newspaper subscriptions on anybody... I already subscribe to the local paper, so not even sure if the deal could apply to me?? It could be just for new subscribers... Anyway, just wondered if anybody has one of the lithos... I see that they have been on sale elsewhere. Like here, for example: http://offers.cbslocal.com/deal/8044/up-to-90-percent-off-frank-worth-photography-at-capital-arts Maybe get a better deal on the Internet someplace?? Oh well... They are nice photos...
RMeingast
Checking out the TCM Shop today and noticed they have some of the Frank Worth Lithos for sale... Same thing as the Sun Media newspapers in Canada are offering as part of their deal for new subscribers. TCM Shop has the Liz Taylor litho, for example, on sale for $99.95 (think that's in US dollars, total with cheapest shipping is $111.90): http://shop.tcm.com/elizabeth-taylor-classic-portrait-set-of-giant-1955-lithograph/detail.php?p=369087&v=tcm_collectibles_category_art Says "this item is eligible to ship to Canada," but then when you go to "add to cart," it says "U.S. shipping only"? So which is it, I wonder?? Newspaper deal on same litho, and others, here: https://edition.sunmedia.ca/cs/BlobServer?blobkey=id&blobnocache=true&blobwhere=1297345866145&blobheader=application%2Fpdf&blobcol=urlbinarydata&blobtable=Attachment $99.00 Can. and you get 6 months subscription to daily rag with it... Anyway, TCM does offer them for sale too... I had wondered about that, and today found out...

twinkeee
P.S. The good news is, at least Canadians pay the same price as the US, unlike suscribing to NOW PLAYING where Canadians pay almost twice as much as our US counterparts

It's the cost ($3.50 a month) of roughly two Timmy's coffees, so that's not bad... Plus they have to ship it from Atlanta (or wherever) to us in Canada... And you know that means (once they cross the Canada/US border) delivery by dog sled while fighting off polar bears and managing through snow storms... Oh well... twinkeee
Yeah, Wonder if they would accept a Timmy's Gift Card for payment (Shoppers practically gives them away)....
