Swithin
I'd love to see a comprehensive series devoted to the films of Evelyn Ankers. In The Mad Ghoul, she sings "I dreamt I dwelt in marble halls" beautifully. Is that really her singing voice? I also have to confess that, although I believe I've seen them all, I confuse Weird Woman, Jungle Woman, and Captive Wild Woman in my mind. I'd like to see them back to back on TCM! PrinceSaliano
Her singing voice was dubbed in THE MAD GHOUL. For those who may not know, Evelyn Ankers was married to actor Richard Denning.
cody1949
It would make a wonderful month of rarely seen Universal 'B' films. By the way, we hardly get any Universal 'A' films.
JamesJazGuitar
It would make a wonderful month of rarely seen Universal 'B' films. By the way, we hardly get any Universal 'A' films. This thread isn't about TCM not showing these films but about Universal not releasing them. e.g. the vault mentioned is the Universal vault. I would love for these films to be available for viewing. One way for this to happen would be for Universal to start their own network similar to what Fox has done with MOVIES and other stations. Of course we can also keep wishing that Universal and TCM will strike a deal but that has been on my Christmas list for over a decade!
ChristineHoard
Totally agree! I wish there were more Universal horror (and other Universal) flicks on TCM and I wish they could come to some sort of agreement. Ms. Ankers was also known as the "Scream Queen" at Universal. Actually, Evelyn has a little bit more freedom from the Universal vaults than some. She's already on commercial DVD in the Universal sci-fi set, Universal classic monsters, the Sherlock Holmes set, and the Inner Sanctum Mysteries, and Abbott and Costello sets. I also believe "The Mad Ghoul" was one of those DVD-R's put out by TCM a few years back.
ChristineHoard
I have the INNER SANCTUM dvd. It's pretty good and Evelyn's in it (I don't care for Lon's 'stache, though). It's a good deal because you get all the movies on 2 dvds.
Big_Bopper
comcast owns universal lock stock and barrel. including the vault and the paramount collection. I have seen ads for TCM selling Hollywood Story. So they are beginning to sell them. But they missed the boat by ten years. Any interest has been squandered and now those interested are too old to care.
