May I strongly suggest that those of you who haven't seen "Rififi" (1954) to check out this noir tomorrow (er, actually the next day). Don't let the French subtitles put you off. You'll be glad you gave it a chance.

And it is not scheduled again in the next four months.

It's part of my DVD collection . . . so that means it's VERY high on my list.

You'll especially enjoy experiencing what the French did with the noir genre. Some fancy camera work, too.

Duh, correction . . . it's in French with ENGLISH subtitles.

The musicals on a holiday makes sense.....my mom always liked TV showing a musical on the holiday.

Funny Girl and Hello Dolly, with also My Fair Lady and Camelot.....

I still wish they had gone with singers in the last two, Hepburn and Redgrave are no Julie Andrews, but since they dubbed the singing in and it's not them singing, they get by.....but at least these movies captured Rex Harrison and Richard Harris in roles they were very good in. .....and Julie Andrews was very busy making movie classics Mary Poppins and Sound Of Music in the 1960s.

I so wished that I had been off work today. I could not believe all the good movies I missed especially, Larceny, Inc. I did catch a bit of Love Come Back and in fact I was 10 minutes late leaving for work because I wanted to see Jeffrey Lynn. Thanks for sharing - just wish I could have watched them.

One thing I am trying to accomplish with this daily thread is that there is always something good on TCM. Some forum posters complain that TCM plays a lot of the same titles over and over. But if you analyze the schedule, it is clear that there is a lot of variety, occasional premieres, and really something for everyone in terms of artists and genres.

All right! The 8PM Loretta Young pre-code, EMPLOYEES ENTRANCE, stars Warren William. His presence in virtually any film assures that it will be eminently watchable. I've seen this one.

Believe it or not, there is a brand new technology that will let you watch a movie on TV that is shown when you are at work!! It's called "recording," and it preserves the movie on a hard drive or a computer disc (called a "DVD",) so that you can watch it later when you are free to do so.

This is so exciting! What won't they think of next?

No, it is not her birthday. But we really do not need a special occasion to enjoy Miss Hayward's films, do we? Maybe tomorrow is the day her cat was born. Yeah, that works for me. :)
