gwtwbooklover
In the first dinner scene where Travolta is sitting with the sheet around him and then the arguing starts and Travolta's screen father hits his hair the grandmother says something I presume in Italian. I also presume it's close to stop it or the Italian of "why can't we all get along". I have always wondered though just exactly what is it she is saying can anybody translate?? Thank You
deeanddaisy666
LOL, gwtwbooklover, Italians invented loving familial dysfunction, so I doubt that it's anything near 'why can't we all get along'!! Before any flames get hurled my way, I know whereof I speak. Sorry I can't help, I don't have the movie or I'd be glad to translate.
shainablue1
What did it sound like? Was it Manga Manga? If so, I believe it means eat eat. Or maybe I am thinking of another Italian grandma scene from another movie. : )
gwtwbooklover
Well it is Grandma's only line. It sounds like Manga Manga or Da-Manga Da-Manga. It's probably eat, eat because the mother after making the "NO hitting no slapping at the table rule she tells everyone to eat' and the grandmother may be saying eat in italian. Thanks for the input shainabluegirl and stoney ...but if you've seen it anyone can you translate???
slappy3500
"Hey don't hit the hair! I spend a lotta time gettin' it just right." I love this movie. It depicted just how shallow and empty the disco life-style was... and ended up being loved by the very mindless and vapid discoids it lampooned!! It single-handedly perpetuated the disco craze for another two years! Nothing could have shown the point of the movie better. At the time I remember dating an "air-head" who said she had seen it 5 times...because she wanted to pick-up new dance steps! Boogie-oogie-oogie! Break out those 7 inch platform shoes and the lime-green leisure suits!!!!!!
