edgedrv
I have always had a fondness for British actors/actresses from the golden age of the British cinema. I always thought their range was much greater than their American born counterparts. Therefore, it is sad to report the passing of this fine actress. Formerly married to director David Lean, Walsh appeared in several of her husband's films in the 40s including IN WHICH WE SERVE, playing the wife of John Mills, THIS HAPPY BREED and very effective as Nancy in OLIVER TWIST. Hitchcock used the actress in a small part (again very effective) as the maid/dresser of Dietrich in STAGE FRIGHT. By this point the former leading lady was playing character roles in such films as THE HORSE'S MOUTH, TUNES OF GLORY, YOUNG BESS and THE L-SHAPED ROOM. Ms. Walsh was 90. bansi4
How ironic that two big British stars, John Mills and Kay Walsh, would die within a week of each other, as well as co-starring together in their careers. And to grow old into your 90s is a feat within it self. May they both rest in peace. Mongo
