"The Birds" (1963) Storyboards by H. Michelson

BFI (British Film Institute) featuring some storyboards (courtesy of artist H. Michelson, and Universal) on its website in honour of the 50th anniversary of the premiere of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds."

Thanks for the link. It's one of my favorite movie sequences EVER. It's interesting to know Melanie was going to be absentmindedly swinging on the swing, but I think smoking the cigarette fits the character perfectly. The tension that comes from the intercutting of the inside and outside scenes is amazing, with a few more birds behind her on the jungle gym each time, accompanied by that innocent, but repetitive and grating kids song. The buildup to the attack is just as scary to me as the actual attack I have almost no interest in what passes for "fright" movies today. Give me Hitchcock any time.
