Let's See More Marlon Brando on TCM

I checked the "Search" feature at TCM and see there are only 2 Marlon Brando movies scheduled to play in June over the next 3 months. Why doesn't TCM play more Brando movies considering he was one of the greatest (if not the greatest) American actor of our century? It seems that TCM plays an abundance of Humphrey Bogart and Carey Grant films. If you go to "search" and put their names in, they each have about 3 pages of films which are played over and over again. They are great actors too, but some of us would like to see some other actors featured and sometimes it's also nice to see some films that are not played that often too. As a Brando fan, I'd love to see TCM devote more time to showing his films and having him as "Star of the Month" or a Brando marathon day.

twisterseal,

I agree with you that Brando was one of the finest film actors of the 20th century. I see his movies on TCM from time to time.

Which are your favorite Brando movies? One of my favorites is "Sayonara", even though the phony Southern accent grates on my nerves.

I also think Brando was wonderful in Guys and Dolls. He could do anything. I heard that Frank Sinatra wanted the role of Sky Masterson. Lucky for all of us that didn't happen!!

Have you seen "The Freshman" with Brando and Matthew Broderick? He parodies the character he played in "The Godfather". I loved it.

I've never watched "On the Waterfront" all the way through, but intend to do that one of these days!!

FYI, there are less than a handful of Marlon Brando films in the TCM library. So, most of the times you see them, it is because they are paying for the privilege. Since TCM doesn't show commercials, there is limited revenue for this ... though I think tcmprogrammer does an excellent job of obtaining the rights to air films which are not in their library.

I don't think "Sayonara" has been shown on the channel, but I did catch "The Men", which is excellent.

The more Brando films on TCM the better. Sorry you don't like him Katy, but there are many of us that do - he was one of the greatest actors ever - "Streetcar Named Desire" and "On the Waterfront" will prove that.
