Stella Dallas (1925) screening tonight in Minnesota!

Recommended Posts

ohwell.gif Wow! This is last minute as it comes, but maybe someone can still make it to this event in that area?

*"The Heights Theatre in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, will be screening a 35mm print of STELLA DALLAS (courtesy of the UCLA Film and Television Archive) this evening, Sunday, May 12.*

*Starring BELLE BENNETT, RONALD COLMAN, ALICE JOYCE, DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS, JR. Directed by HENRY KING. While Stella Dallas has been remade twice, once in 1937 with Barbara Stanwyck and again in 1990 as Stella with Bette Midler, it is this 1925 silent version that is the definitive telling of the classic story of mother love and sacrifice. Minnesota native Belle Bennett gives one of the great performances of the silent screen as the good hearted but crass Stella Dallas, who sacrifices all so her daughter Laurel will have a chance at a better life than the one she could give her. This film was one of the first big hits for producer Samuel Goldwyn. At times funny, and at times heart breaking, Stella Dallas is not to be missed! 35mm print courtesy UCLA Film & Television Archive and the Stanford Foundation. This special screening will include:*

*HARVEY GUSTAFSON at the Heights Mighty Wurlitzer!"*

Uh-oh...I see another silly thread coming. And I mean that in a GOOD way...

Would Nathan Detroit ever sing "New York, New York" in Kansas City?

Does "Memphis Slim" got a gal in Kalamazoo?
