Betty Bop

She was originally drawn as a French poodle. I never saw her that way; I remember her first in the Max Fleischer "Popeye" cartoons which came along when I was three or four years old. She was our idea of a fun, cute little girl, and of course the sexy stuff went over our heads at that age.

> {quote:title=musicalnovelty wrote:}{quote}Hey I kinda like that - "Betty Bop". Someone should make a new Betty Bop cartoon where she bops along to 1950's jazz music!

Right, Betty "Bop" is really just as apropos as Betty "Boop". Maybe she was into Dizzy Gillespie. B-)

Because of her love for the jazz style known as "Be-Bop", jazz vocalist par excellence BETTY CARTER was given the nickname "BETTY BE-BOP" by Lionel Hampton.

NObody "scatted" better than Betty!

Perhaps the original poster was thinking of the hilariously bad movie [*Bop Girl Goes Calypso*|http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050205/reference].
