blackquarry
Am trying to locate a movie I saw as a kid, circa 1962(ish). A platoon of US soldiers marching in icy conditions to the tune of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home". Maybe all were killed. There was something abbout an "Ice Queen" maybe?? Am just curious to see if I can locate the film. I have no further knowledge, but the above just stuck in my mind. It was on release in Ireland. I saw it in Kilkenny. movieman1957
There is a film called "Fixed Bayonets" from 1951 with Richard Basehart. It is set mostly in the winter and deals with a slow measured retreat. As they go most are picked off. A thread at imdb mentions that they sing "Back Home In Indiana" early in the film. That is the only thing I can think of that comes close.
prc1966
Possibly it the 1959 movie "All the Young Men". It was a Korean War film, set in winter, and there was definietly a scene in which the squad was walkin along in the snow and ice. Starred Alan Ladd and Sindey Poitier.
