East of Eden question

Has anyone seen the trailers for East of Eden?

 

In one, Julie Harris tells James Dean she loves him in his room prior to the big breakdown at his father's birthday party. But that part of the scene doesn't exist in the movie.

 

Why is that line not in the movie and why would it be in a trailer? Or was it in the movie but not on the DVD?

That happens fairly often. Often the trailers are produced and released months before the final cut of the film is made which results in scenes being in a trailer that isn't in the film.
