edgedrv
I've seen this musical many times on TV, VHS and LD, but this latest incarnation on DVD is simply fabulous. The colors in this new restoration are so dazzling and simply jump off the screen, e.g. the yellow gloves and skirt Ann Miller wears in "Shaking the Blues Away", Judy Garland's red hat in "Fella With an Umbrella", the Dilineator sequence (Girl on the Magazine) with all the cover girls (watch for Lola Albright). Astaire and Garland are at the top of their form. Over the years listening to so many Irving Berlin tunes, he has become one of my favorite composers. There are two beautiful songs in this film: "Better Luck Next Time" and "It Only Happens When I Dance With You." This film is highly recommended even if its just to watch one of the most beautiful Technicolor prints ever to come out of Hollywood.
