Can anyone remember this old movie???

This is a very old, dark film in black and white. The end of the movie has a young woman carrying flowers to a grave. The grave is at the bottom of a hill, near the woods and there is a huge castle-like mansion on the hill. It is very dark, mysterious and cold. The young woman is taking flowers to the grave of her mother. As she lays the flowers on the grave a hand reaches up and starts to pull her into the ground. It is very similar to the Carrie scene but a much, much older film. I saw only parts of it as a young child and never have seen it since. I would love to know what this film is so I might see the entire story since it has haunted me since I was about six years old. Any help to recognize this film would be most appreciated!
