christine3748
This is the most exciiting schedule I have ever seen on TCM! While I have seen, and even own, most of these films I cannot recommend them enough for film fans. Sundays with Hitchcock, Spielberg movies that are new to TCM I believe, foreign gems and, especially silent masterpieces in the history of film series. I have never posted before but this is so exciting that I have to congratulate and praise their programming. Thank you!
AndyM108
A good friend of mine who used to be an AFI programmer and who currently writes the notes for New York's Film Forum said that September's TCM schedule blew his mind. Given at how this guy has probably seen well over 10,000 movies in his life, I took that as a pretty impressive tribute.

DownGoesFrazier
I notice that Peter Sellers' THE PARTY is on, 8AM, Sunday the 8th. For those who haven't seen it, you'll roll on the floor..... MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, probably Kim Novak's best persormance, is on in prime time late in the month.
jakeem
What impresses me is that September's schedule includes films featuring 40 of the 50 actors and actresses selected as the greatest screen legends by the American Film Institute in 1999. I won't list all of their films, but the stars appearing on TCM during the month are in bold: *Male Legends* *1. Humphrey Bogart* *2. Cary Grant* *3. James Stewart* *4. Marlon Brando* *5. Fred Astaire* *6. Henry Fonda* *7. Clark Gable* *8. James Cagney* *9. Spencer Tracy* *10. Charlie Chaplin* *11. Gary Cooper* *12. Gregory Peck* *13. John Wayne* *14. Sir Laurence Olivier* *15. Gene Kelly* *16. Orson Welles* *17. Kirk Douglas* *18. James Dean* *19. Burt Lancaster* 20. The Marx Brothers *21. Buster Keaton* *22. Sidney Poitier* *23. Robert Mitchum* *24. Edward G. Robinson* *25. William Holden* *Female Legends* 1. Katharine Hepburn *2. Bette Davis* 3. Audrey Hepburn *4. Ingrid Bergman* 5. Greta Garbo 6. Marilyn Monroe *7. Elizabeth Taylor* *8. Judy Garland* *9. Marlene Dietrich* *10. Joan Crawford* *11. Barbara Stanwyck* *12. Claudette Colbert* *13. Grace Kelly* *14. Ginger Rogers* 15. Mae West *16. Vivien Leigh* *17, Lillian Gish* *18. Shirley Temple* *19. Rita Hayworth* 20. Lauren Bacall 21. Sophia Loren 22. Jean Harlow *23. Carole Lombard* 24. Mary Pickford *25. musikone
The September monthly schedule is defective. I assume that it is good *only* for EST, since my attempt to change to PST brought up the August schedule !! This is a brand new effect. This same ingenious switch probably happens for an attempt to change the schedule to the remaining two time zones. Clearly this is a programming goof, which should be corrected immediately, if not sooner. musikone
ruylopez
Just looked at the schedule, and I agree it is going to be an exciting month of entertainment. This will be a great month to get family and friends hooked on TCM, for sure.
DownGoesFrazier
The preponderance of legends may indicate that we're getting the same old-same old.
