maybe tonight we'll finally see the silent version of Blackmail

I saw the silent version of BLACKMAIL at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in July as part of the "Hitchcock 9" series of restorations with live accompaniment. I also watched it last night. In it's silent form, it's atmospheric and creepy. As a "part Talkie" I found it far less effective.

I'm still holding out hope that TCM will eventually acquire broadcast rights to the BFI restorations of the 9 surviving Hitchcock silents, and air the "new" versions. The versions of the Hitchcock silent films TCM is airing this month are not the restored versions.
