Swithin
*Valerie Hobson,* who in 1935 (at the age of 18) appeared in major roles in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Bride of Frankenstein (as Mrs. Frankenstein), and Werewolf of London (as Lisa Glendon); and in 1946 played the adult Estella in Great Expectations, will be depicted in Andrew Lloyd Webber's new musical Stephen Ward, to open in London this December. The musical will focus on the scandal related to John Profumo, Ms. Hobson's husband. Stephen Ward, who committed suicide on the last day of his trial related to "living off the profits of prostitution," was the doctor who introduced Profumo to Christine Keeler. Dargo2
I wonder if this musical, like Webber's "Sunset Blvd" and a few other of his musicals, with be based upon the movie...in this case the 1989 drama "Scandal" ?

The Lloyd Webber musical (entitled STEPHEN WARD) is not based upon the movie SCANDAL, but he is collaborating with the same writers that he worked with on his musical SUNSET BLVD. The story of STEPHEN WARD is by Christopher Hampton with lyrics by Don Black.
