gagman66
Yes, this is the Cohen Restoration with the Magnificent Carl Davis score airing right now! TCM should have publicized this ahead of time! Just two months ago they showed an older version! Huge surprise!
thegreatman
The Thames TV version is 161 min. How does that jive with the 149 min. TCM version?
gagman66
This is the same as the Cohen DVD and Blu-ray that was released in January. I knew that TCM was supposed to be picking it up, but gave up hope after July when they aired the same thing that had been showing since 1999. Great to see this in Prime-time, but it's to bad no one knew about it in advance. The probably figured it would be the same as two months ago and may not have tuned in? The Davis score was recorded clear back in 1982. I saw it when it first aired on PBS in the States. No previous DVD or release had the Davis score before this. And obviously not Blu-ray. It was on Laser-disc though back in the early 90's. There are a few scattered bits of footage here and there missing from the Cohen print that is in the Kino edition. Mostly from the climax of the picture, but some of it earlier in the movie.
scottman1932
I think the extra 12 minutes on the Thames edition would probably be the intro by Douglas Fairbanks Jr.
