28Silent
I think it was good ,back then, that Mario Lanza was not physically playing the student prince.Edmund Purdom was more fitting as an actor.Even if Mario lost weight the role would have not fit him.He was too old to play the student prince. That American Italian ethnicity would have thrown his character off.The audience would have notice this too.For the first time the critics would have made a negative opinion about the film.It might of been Lanza's first disappointment .His success was to play people his age .In Europe back in the early sixties a dramatic version of the student prince was made on film.Guess how old was the prince ? 16 and Kathy? 15 or 16.This was the originally ages ,I believe, that the characters were suppose to be .Teenagers Even Edmund Purdom didn't fit that much neither ,but he was better than Lanza, would have been, as the acting side of it Edited by: 28Silent on Sep 19, 2013 3:51 PM
