TypicalNikki
I watched a movie a few years ago and I can't remember the name. I believe it was from the 30's it was a comedy, and it was so funny. The family inherits this house and move in. They try to pretend they're wealthy, but they live next door to a man, I think they were trying to con. No one was really who they thought they were. Does anyone have a good lead on this very funny movie?
slaytonf
The only movie that occurs to me is this: http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/96538/The-Young-in-Heart/ Click on the full synopsis option. You can watch it here: It's different from your description, but there's a chance. It's the moving into a house bit, and the con bit, and the pretense bit that made me think of it. It's also a very funny movie.

starliteyes
Could it have been the 1934 comedy "The Poor Rich?" It doesn't exactly fit your description, but there are some similarities.
FredCDobbs
Here is an idea. I don't know if this is it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0037588/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_6 *The Cheaters* (1945) An eccentric wealthy family facing bankruptcy schemes to steal an inheritance, but an alcoholic ex-actor they take in for Christmas charity complicates their plan. A wealthy family is preparing for Christmas in their usual stylish fashion. They hit on a bright idea that will make them outstanding during this holiday season among their friends. They will adopt a "lost man" and bring him to their house for the holidays. They find a news story of a washed-up actor who has attempted to commit suicide and bring him to their home. The actor proves far more than they bargained for and he shows them some real truths about giving and living. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cfEi2kzShw
ding19410922
I do not know the movie name, but I did see it on TCM early Christmas evening in 2008. The actress who played Belle Watling in GWTW - Ona Munson? - is in it. I think it is better than ' Christmas in Connecticut', and I should wash my mouth out with soap for saying that, due to my unsurpassed respect for Stanwyck, but I really think it is a better film overall.
