hamradio
How about "The Hands of Orlac" (1925) or "H?xan" (1922)
hamradio
GREAT! I just noticed on my Directv guide that "H?xan" is playing tonight. Edited by: hamradio on Oct 21, 2013 11:55 AM
darkblue
'Nosferatu' (1922) should be shown immediately prior to the brilliant 'Shadow of the Vampire' (2000) that stars John Malkovich as F.W. Murnau and Willem Dafoe as Max Shreck. Now that's the perfect double feature.
Geminigirl
I agree wholeheartedly! Willem Dafoe and John Malkovich give excellent performances...............and of course, so does Max Shreck. He is by far the creepiest vampire ever................ Edited by: Geminigirl on Oct 21, 2013 12:28 AM
Sepiatone
You had the same idea I had, dark. Good movie, too. Sepiatone
hamradio
Did anyone laugh until they hyperventilate during the "kissing the devils behind" scene in "H?xan" last night. So thats where the phrase came from. Edited by: hamradio on Oct 21, 2013 11:53 AM

FlyBackTransformer
By the way, I believe it's *Haxan*. The last half hour wasn't too much good because Christensen decided to push Freud.
hamradio
Thanks for pointing out my typo, it's actually *H?xan* but my keyboard don't support the odd ? character. Had to copy it to clipboard from the internet. I noticed the word *trolldom* in the original Swedish title. That's a word we should adopt, Lol. Usage: This board is suffering from trolldom. "H?xan" is like "Army of Darkness", comedy horror.
FlyBackTransformer
I can't wait for the TCM slackers to get around to showing Herzog's 1979 remake of Nosferatu even though this would be the perfect time of year for them to do so...so I grabbed it myself. Accolades for showing Murnau's silent masterpiece? It's all over the place...even youtube.
hamradio
The Nosferatu vampire in the remake is not as ugly as Max. These guys are uglier
darkblue
Agreed. Kinski is a dreamboat compared to Shreck.
FlyBackTransformer
I really only sat through the Herzog film only once maybe 20 years ago on pay cable. Can't remember if it was dubbed or not. Interesting though about the Murnau silent. Stoker's relatives sued, won, and all the copies were supposed to be destroyed but thankfully for all of us today, one copy was not.
hamradio
Forgot to mention, the music in the first 16 min of "Haxon" is used in the movie "The Family Secret" (1924) ...and some companies *Music on Hold.* while waiting forever to get help.
