jdflip
Why didn"t Dan,(Van Heflin) and Alice,(Leora Dana) kiss? It would only be normal to have both of them kiss when they embraced or when saying goodbye, I always wondered why? Does anyone have any idea why? hamradio
Do they *always* have to? Maybe the plot was staying true to the era, I believe during the time period lip kissing was improper unless they are married (Victorian value system) but commonly they offer reciprocal kisses on the cheek as a greeting or farewell. movieman1957
There were really only two places that could fit and I don't know that it would have fit that well when Alice comes to Contention to bring Dan home. I don't see it as an issue. At most a kiss on the head or cheek might fit. No doubt of their love though.

Sepiatone
I never noticed either. Doesn't surprise me, though. I never saw my Grandparents kiss, but I knew they loved each other deeply. And yes, it might not have been uncommon back in those days. Sepiatone
