DownGoesFrazier
I see that there is a short called "Calgary Stampede" on TCM tonight. I know that there is a team in the CFL called the Calgary Stampeders. What was the Calgary Stampede?

tommyphils31
Pretty cool short documentary piece very typical of that time period. I am thankful that TCM airs these seemingly lost jewels between features. You never know what interesting knowledge you might take from them. The narrator, Art Gilmore, was one of the most accomplished voice artists in history. Although most of his work during his 60+ year career was in radio, voice over, or as an audiobook pioneer, he did appear in front of the camera occasionally. These days, classic TV buffs can see him most often in Jack Webb productions such as Dragnet and Adam -12, usually as Captain ______ of _______ Division. However, maybe the most timeless "appearance" of his career is as the voice of FDR in "Yankee Doodle Dandy". Mr. Gilmore died just a little over three years ago at the age of 98.
