There are many fans of the Perry Mason show on these boards.  The question is how well do they know the character actors with recurring roles on the show.  Everyone knows the stars, but there are many folks who showed up again and again in the same roles.  Here are a few.  Can you identify the actor or actress in the role?  I'll try and give a few clues to help you.  The first five played judges.

1.  He played lawmen and men of authority  on many fifties TV shows, including "The Lone Ranger".

2.  He played cavalry officers and doctors in many movies.

3.  He was billed under a different name in many Hopalong Cassidy movies.  He also played military officers frequently.

4.  He was in movies dating back to the 1930's.  He was a bad guy in a serial that was shown on TCM last year.  It was Lionel Atwill's final film appearance.

5.  He played men of authority in all kinds of movies and TV shows dating back many years.

6.  Old movie fans will know him as "The Runt: in a series of crime movies.  Some will know him as "Toothpick Charlie" in a well known comedy film.

7.  Della wasn't Perry's only employee.  This gal was a veteran of Three Stooges comedies.

8.  This guy was a coroner.  Another actor came along later with the same name.  The other actor added a middle initial to distinguish himself from this guy.

9.  This guy ran a restaurant where Perry, Della, and Paul would congregate after a tough day in court.  In an old movie, Spencer Tracy once referred to him as "The Little Corporal".

10.  This guy played a law student who interned with Perry and helped investigate some cases.

Bonus points if you can name any of the character's names on the show.

Yes, thank you ladies.  We have them all now.  Morris Ankrum was billed as Stephen Morris in some early Hopalong Cassidy films.  Michael J. Fox added the middle initial to his name because he needed to be distinguished from this Michael Fox.  George E. Stone was in many thirties and forties movies.  He played "The Runt" in the "Boston ****" movies and he was "Toothpick Charlie" in "Some Like It Hot".  Connie Cezon played Gertie, Perry's receptionist.  Dan Tobin played Terrance Clay, Perry's restaurant owner friend.  He had played Katherine Hepburn's male secretary in "Woman Of The Year" where Spencer Tracy referred to him as "The Little Corporal".  John Gallaudet had played a villain in "Lost City Of The Jungle", a 1946 serial that was shown on TCM last year.  All of the actors who played judges had many years of playing authority figures in movies and TV shows.

Bonus points to Lavender for naming Karl Held's character.  Since both Princess and Lavender each got five, I'll leave it up to them to decide who goes next.
