MarshaKatz
Marsha, I'm going to guess "Dangerous When Wet" with Barbara Whiting, sister of Margaret, and daughter of Richard. Terrence, You're correct with Barbara Whiting, Margaret Whiting and Richard A. Whiting. However, the film I have in mind is from the middle forties. One particular song was recorded by Frank Sinatra. The composer and the lyricist are world famous and wrote the musical score, book and lyrics for a groundbreaking musical from the 1920's.

MilesArcher
Apparently nobody wants to do any research. It's "Centennial Summer" with Linda Darnell and Cornel Wilde.
MarshaKatz
Apparently nobody wants to do any research. It's "Centennial Summer" with Linda Darnell and Cornel Wilde. Great going, Miles. "Centennial Summer" it is with a wonderful score by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II. "All Through The Day" was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song. And of course it starred the marvelous Jeanne Crain, Darryl F. Zanuck's favorite actress. The thread is yours.

MilesArcher
That's correct, Marsha. Foy did the announcing for "The Lone Ranger" on radio. When the TV series started, actor Gerald Mohr did the intro for a few years, but Fred Foy finished the series. Here is the radio intro: Hi-Yo, Silver! A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty "Hi-Yo Silver"... The Lone Ranger! With his faithful Indian companion, Tonto, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains led the fight for law and order in the early Western United States. Nowhere in the pages of history can one find a greater champion of justice. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear. From out of the past come the thundering hoof-beats of the great horse Silver. The Lone Ranger rides again! They changed it a bit for TV: You're up next, Marsha
MarshaKatz
Thanks for your post Miles. It brings back some wonderful memories - even though the TV intro was modified slightly it was still so exciting. My brother and sister and I couldn't wait to watch The Lone Ranger. This actress, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in Hollywood films, did many romantic comedies with many of Hollywood's most famous leading men, Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, James Stewart, for starters. In the late 1940's she made a romantic comedy co-starring another Hollywood leading man (in their only film together) about an overworked and harried ad executive who needs a psychiatrist to help calm him down. Name the movie, the actress who plays the psychiatrist and the actor who plays the ad exec.

MarshaKatz
DGF - Correct on all three. I really enjoy this movie and have requested TCM to show it. Hedy Lamarr is beautiful and quite good, but Robert Cummings really shines. His comedic timing is wonderful. Okay. The thread is yours.

This '50s rock/r&b artist had the name of a musical instrument as his nickname, and his group had a name reminiscent of the circus. Artist and group? MilesArcher
In the early days of "The Beverly Hillbillies" TV series, Max Baer Jr. not only played Jethro, but he also played Jethro's sister, Jethrine, in a few episodes. However, he did not supply Jethrine's voice. The actress who did, would become a TV series regular on another show a few years later. Can you name this actress?. MilesArcher
That's right, Lavender. She was billed as Linda Kaye in the first years of "Petticoat Junction", then later as Linda Kaye Henning when her relationship to the producer became well known. Of the actresses who played the Bradley sisters, she was the only one who played the role for the entire series. Three actress played Billie Jo, and two actresses played Bobbie Jo. By the way, Bea Benadaret played the mother on "Petticoat Junction". She also played the mother of Jethro and Jethrine on "The Beverly Hillbillies". Here is an episode featuring Jethrine: [...] Good work, Lavender. You get the thread. lavenderblue19
Thanks Miles The opening of a 1970's tv show is not exactly the same as a 1950's tv show, but similiar. The premise of the 2 shows are also similiar. 2 tv shows and the stars ????
