MilesArcher
The song Groovin' was written by Felix Cavaliere and Eddie Brigati when they were members of "The Young Rascals". They had previously been with "Joey Dee And The Starlighters", whose biggest hit was The Peppermint Twist. Other than the songs both being Twist songs, I don't see a tie-in to Chubby Checker. Gene Cornish of the Rascals had also been with Joey Dee and the Starliters. The only Rascals member that hadn't been was Dino Dinelli. Either Miles or Kid Dabb can take the thread. MilesArcher
We all know that Dinah Shore's TV show was sponsored by Chevrolet. Do you remember any other sponsors of vintage shows? Here is a list of shows and companies that sponsored them, at least at one time. Can you match the shows with their sponsors? 1. Arthur Godfrey And Friends _______ A. Gulf 2. Your Hit Parade _______ B. Kraft 3. The Life Of Riley _______ C. Dodge 4. You Bet Your Life _______ D. Winston 5. Captain Midnight _______ E. Quaker Oats 6. The Perry Como Show _______ F. Desoto/Plymouth 7. The Paul Winchell Show _______ G. Hartz Mountain 8. The Gabby Hayes Show _______ H. Lucky Strike 9. The Lawrence Welk Show _______ I. Toni Home Permanent 10. I've Got A Secret _______ J. Ovaltine All of these shows were on TV in the 1950's. Can you remember any other sponsors of 50's TV shows?
Princess of Tap
I'm sure of these- - 2) Hit Parade is Dorothy Collins singing about Lucky Strike cigarettes. 6) Mr C is Kraft 7) Paul Winchell Hartz mountain-- once saw a dog bite him during a live commercial 9) Lawrence Welk is Dodge-- this one I think is right but it's a little confusing because they're all Plymouths 10) I've got a secret - - Gary Moore did live Winston commercials, and smoked the cigarette. " Winston tastes good like a cigarette should." Also The Beverly Hillbillies - - granny said, " Winston tastes good like a cigarette hada oughta." This I vaguely remember - - 2)Groucho-- you bet your life--- Plymouth DeSoto ( But his announcer George Feniman worked for Lipton Tea to for years.) These are the guesses-- 1) Arthur Godfrey-- this personality I doubt that he had any friends;he certainly didn't have any friends when it came to Julius La Rosa fans. Came on during the day and I was in school - - but I'll go with which twin has the Toni? Kansas City didn't show these last two that I can remember - - (we used to watch Wild Bill Hickok and Andy Devine, the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans show and Skye King with his neice penny--that's all I can remember) Guessing--Ovaltine for 5) Capt. Midnight & 8) Gabby Hayes with Quaker Oats Didn't watch 3) William Bendix that much - - but I liked life of Riley & Peg---Gulf by process of elimination. FYI-- Nelly Bell was my favorite mode of transportation in the westerns-- but I liked Buttermilk too. Now I have to get an Advil, maybe two advils because that's going back way too far for me! Princess of Tap
Miles, answering your retro questions makes me feel like I just won the Oscar!. They were very hard. Thank-you for staving off senility for me. LOL Well Miles, I hope these are hard enough for you; believe me I'm trying. The Golden Age TV was full of beautiful young ladies who were called starlets-- some were even called deb stars. Only a few became stars, but they all were hardworking actresses and a delight to watch on television. In this quiz, I'm going to give you their first name; and you are going to give me their last names. Also, please give the name of a TV show that they appeared on-- they could be regulars on the series, but they certainly don't have to be. If you can give two last names for an actress that's okay, but any one which matches correctly will do. 1) Roxane 2) Nita 3) Gloria 4) Jacqueline 5) Diane 6) Arlene 7) Lisa 8) Madlyn 9) Christine 10)Myrna

Princess of Tap
Marsha,You did a wonderful job with my favorite girls. I have a confession to make. I learned to read by studying TV Guide, so I kind of knew all their names and faces, as well as their show credits. You came through with the two Dianes like a trooper. Take a bow! Marsha, you're up next--

lavenderblue19
Thanks Marsha. The show Family, Kristy McNichol and Meredith Baxter, James Broderick, Sada Thompson was my favorite at that time. Wish it was in re-runs. What's a little scary is that I knew all of them and didn't have to look any up!!!! Way too much tv watching LOL. I'll post one later, unless someone has one on hand and wants to post, that's fine.

MarshaKatz
I believe the actor is Richard Long who sadly died very young at 47. The TV series are Bourbon Street Beat, 77 Sunset Strip, The Big Valley, Nanny and the Professor and the short lived Thicker Than Water with Julie Harris. He also had a recurring role of "Gentleman Jack Darby" on Maverick and was cast in the memorable episode "Shady Deal At Sunny Acres" which featured various actors and actresses with recurring roles on the Maverick TV series.
