MarshaKatz
The TV show was "Rawhide"; the actor/singer is Frankie Laine who appeared with his wife actress Nan Grey and Frankie Laine sang the "Rawhide" theme song. Mr. Laine sang the theme song to "Blazing Saddles" the 1970's movie.
lavenderblue19
Correct Marsha. Frankie Laine and his wife Nan Grey both appeared in an episode of Rawhide and of course he sang the very famous hit theme song to the tv show that's been used in movies, and countless tv shows and probably can be hummed and sung to by every generation. Frankie did sing the title song for Blazing Saddles. This was the last time Nan Grey appeared in either a tv show or movie. Some of her films were Three Smart Girls. The Invisible Man Returns, Dracula's Daughter. Good work, your thread

MarshaKatz
Hint: This movie could also be titled "Othello Goes West". Also, the male star of the film is a legendary Hollywood actor who was paired in several films with an actress who was considered the "goddess". lavenderblue19
Thanks Lawrence The Shari Lewis Show, episodes of Jeopardy from 1964-1975 and The Tonight Show starring Jack Parr and the first 10 years starring Johnny Carson of The Tonight Show have something in common. LawrenceA
Is it that they were all shot on videotape, which was subsequently erased, leaving very few episodes left to posterity?
lavenderblue19
Is it that they were all shot on videotape, which was subsequently erased, leaving very few episodes left to posterity? Correct Lawrence. Unfortunately for all of us the networks erased the tapes of these precious shows. Not only did the Network erase The Shari Lewis Show tapes, they taped over them for the 1964 Dem/Rep conventions. Good work, your thread
LawrenceA
Who was the first winner of a Best Actress Oscar that would subsequently go on to earn the title of "Dame"? For bonus points, name the other three. Reminder: this is Winners in the Best Lead Actress category, not supporting, and I want the first to win an Oscar, not the first bestowed the title of Dame. MilesArcher
Well, I knew two and I had to look up the third. Peter Lorre played the role in the 50's TV drama "Casino Royale". Barry Nelson played Bond as an American agent and Michael Pate play Felix Leiter as a British agent/ I bought the DVD for a dollar at Walmart a few years ago. Orson Welles played Le Chiffre in the 1967 film. The one I looked up was Mads Mikkelsen, who played the role in the more recent "Casino Royale" movie.
