MilesArcher
I didn't know that the photo would bring about this reaction. Ty Hardin is still with us and, according to IMDB, he has been married eight times. I remember him as the boy toy of old lady Joan Crawford in "Berserk". He was in his thirties and she in her sixties at the time. Lavender, it's your turn.
lavenderblue19
Figures ty hardin would still be alive. When the expression the good die young came about, they were obviously NOT talking about him. He'll live beyond 100. next This actor known for light comedies and his excellent work in noirs had a tv sit com series in the 50's-60's that unfortunately did not run more than a season. He had stiff competition since he was up against western tv series. Actor and his short lived series ??
lavenderblue19
The co-star of the series had been on an iconic tv series that ran during the same tv season. She had left that series edited by me
MilesArcher
Could it be "The Dennis O'Keefe Show"? It only ran one season. Hope Emerson played his housekeeper. She left "Peter Gunn" to work on this show. Here's a clip. You might notice Nancy Kulp in a pre-Beverly Hillbillies appearance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-RgncD64HA
lavenderblue19
Yes, The Dennis O'Keefe Show and Hope Emerson left Peter Gunn and became Dennis' co-star. I thought Dennis O'Keefe was a pleasant actor and easy on the eye. Raw Deal is a fav noir of mine, he was excellent in it. The show unfortunately was up against Sugarfoot/ Bronco on one network and Laramie on the other network. Too bad because the show did get decent reviews. Good work Miles, your thread
MilesArcher
Thanks, Lav. The clues led me to it. Now, another sitcom from that era also went up against westerns and only lasted one season. Actually, it was cancelled before the full season was finished. It starred a veteran character actor who had been in vaudeville and later in many movies. He played the head of a music publishing company. He hated rock and roll music, so he refused to publish it. His daughter and her husband continually try to convince him to change his mind. The show used a theme song that would be used again many years later as the theme of another sitcom. Do you know the name of the show and the star? He would have success in another TV series some years later.

Frank Sinatra had a huge hit with the song Love and Marriage
MilesArcher
That's correct, Lavender. Of course, the song "Love And Marriage" was also the theme to "Married ... With Children" some years later. In my house, we didn't watch either "Love And Marriage" or "The Dennis O'Keefe Show" because, as it has been pointed out, they were on opposite westerns. Good work, Lavender. You're up next. lavenderblue19
One was Donna Reed, "The Donna Reed Show" and FROM HERE TO ETERNITY. The other is Shirley Jones-"The Partridge Family" and ELMER GANTRY. Exactly. It's interesting how both won their Best Supporting Oscars for playing prostitutes and both wound up playing squeaky clean mom roles on tv. Terrence1
No, it wasn't too softball. Good question. In this TV show from the early days of TV, after a while the daughter of the female star was brought in as a regular. But she played the star's younger sister, not her daughter. MilesArcher
Beverly Wills, the daughter of Joan Davis, played Joan's younger sister in "I Married Joan" in the fifties. Curiously, she had played Joan as a child in the movie "George White's Scandals" in 1945.
Terrence1
That's true, Miles. She played the part of Joan's younger sister very well. Very believable. Beverly never did much in the movies. She can be seen as a bit player in some MGM musicals. Too bad she didn't do more. Your turn.
MilesArcher
Thanks. Let's test your memory with this one. In the 1950's TV series "The Adventures Of Superman", Lois Lane (and sometimes Clark Kent) would have to drive to the crime scene they were investigating. Do you remember the make of car that they drove? The models changed over the years, but the make stayed the same.
MilesArcher
I'll give you a visual hint. Phyllis Coates played Lois for the first season. Here she is with her car: Noel Neill played Lois after that. Here is her car: Now, can you identify the make of car that Lois drove?
LawrenceA
Your second picture is appearing as a broken link, and it says "Nash", so I would guess they are Nash Motors cars?
MilesArcher
Close enough. The first car is a 1951 Nash Rambler Airflyte convertible. It became known as "The Lois Lane Car". The last one is a 1953 Nash Rambler Custom. By the way, Clark Kent drove a Nash Healey. Lawrence, you get to go next.
