Handsome men

It had to be done, after seeing the Beautiful Women thread. I'm certain it's been asked before, many times, but I can't find a current thread so - - -

I know, I know, there were so many - Errol Flynn, Tyrone Power, John Garfield . . . .

I'll add someone rarely thought of, Dirk Bogarde, I think he was gorgeous. :-)

To me the obvious answer is: MARLON BRANDO

Other handsome men were:

Errol Flynn

Cary Grant

Montgomery Clift

James Dean

Paul Newman

But none of the above could hold a candle

to a young Marlon Brando who exuded such

sexiness like no other actor before or

after him. Just take a look at him in

"Streetcar Named Desire", "On the Waterfront"

and "Guys and Dolls" and you'll see what I mean.

some wonderful choices in this thread, all of which are agreeable to me.

So I will pick...George O'Brien, who plays the husband to Janet Gaynor in the silent, "Sunrise".

What amazes me about him is, that he looks so less dated than many men in films of that time. He looks just like he could walk out of the film, and be totally up to date looking and a part of this century.

He is very cute and I can see why the woman from the city liked him...

Ronald Coleman has the best diction of anyone in the movies. Listen to his voice in Random Harvest....

What about George Brent??? He was in alot of Bette Davis movies and they had an affair for about 7 years..

I recently saw Charles Boyer in 'The Garden of Allah', with Marlene Dietrich. He was stunningly handsome in that movie, made early in his career I think. I had never thought he was anything special in his later career, but he was devastatingly good-looking in his younger years. Ditto Robert Taylor; I had never understood his appeal until I saw him in his younger days in a movie with Barbara Stanwyck, I forget the title.

As I've reached a more mature stage of life, I find the more masculine, tough-guy types more attractive -- like Robert Ryan and Sterling Hayden. Very manly.

Another very handsome actor was Guy Madison, back in the 40s.

It was so interesting to watch this thread because "different strokes for different folks". :-) There are many that I agree with on here, but some I wouldn't walk across the street to see. As I'm sure most of you are with some of the choices. This is great fun. :-)

My vote for handsome actors are,

1. Richard Gere - is he too "current"???

2. Cary Grant - so debonaire in his suit

3. Richard Widmark - for some reason, I find him handsome

4. Marlon Brando - hot, hot, HOT

5. Tyrone Power - classic good looks

6. Clark Gable - loved those dimples and dark hair

7. James Stewart - not in the "classic" sense though

8. Paul Newman - resembled a young Brando years ago.

Oh, I think I have to be fanned down now...LOL
