cchambers
I can't remember the name of the film but it involves a company like MGM and how they discovered the use of microphones and struggled through their use. It was very funny and I only remember a few scenes. The final scene that I remember involved a showing of the first movie using recorded voices and the audience expected to hear an actor behind the screen... come to discover that the actor lip-speaking was not happening and the audience was in an uproar having not heard his voice. Another scene involved a stage show where they tested placement of the microphone. They put it in the garden only to hear all of the foot steps and no voices. They then put it on the actor's shoulder and when the actor shifted his head, the sound faded. Funny scenes. Again, it's a funny movie and would appreciate anyone's assistance in discovering its title. Thanks
Kid Dabb
Singing in the Rain (1952) has a couple of segments dealing with the awkwardness of placing microphones and dubbing singers. It was funny. Here's a couple of clips:
