ERROL23
Austrian musical composer Victor Albert(Walter Woolf King)and his manager Edward(Eric Blore)come to Switzerland because Victor wants to write a musical without the help of his wife Anna(Grete Natzier)a popular singer. At the same time Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy come to Switzerland to sell mousetraps.(Sttan reasons, A mouse likes cheese and the most mice must be in Switzerland where they make cheese.)The boys sell all their mousetraps to the local cheesemaker who pays them off in bad money. The boys go the local hotel, order a feast but,of course, cant pay.The owner puts them to work under the supervision of evil cook(Adie Nuznetzoff) Victor Albert is staying at the hotel and Anna,to his anger, shows up.Victor tells her to return to Austria, but Anna orders a feast and refuses to pay so she too is put to work. Victor cant write with his wife there and must find a different place to work. Very funny scene when Stan and Ollie are moving Victors pianio to a tree house in the Alps.Stan is loaded after taking brandy from a ST Bernard. When they come to the treehouse the boys find an ape lives there. Note The evil cook falls for Anna and plants a bomb in Victors piano.for some reason the bomb scene was cut,so we see drunken Stan senselessly falling against the keys as the boys movie it to the treehouse. The film had several flaws,Stan was overweight at the time, the song the boys sing with the cheesemaker was edited, and the bomb scene was cut.Still people loved it and ignored the mistakes. Keep an eye out for Doodles Weaver(Bit) The songs aren't too bad in the film either.
