bhryun
Okay I'm getting old and slipping a bit, but I remember something different and need to know if I am wrong. I thought that "The Big Sleep" was the film in which Bogart put an alarm clock under the wheel of a car to find out when it moved. I did not see that in this new "director's cut" and want to know if I am just confusing this with another film or what. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks if you can. nickdimeo
I believe this gimmick of putting the watch under the wheel is from Lady in the Lake where Robert Montgomery plays Philip Marlowe instead of Bogart.
slappy3500
Nick , maybe so but I also distinctly remember Bogie doing it too.
teepad17
The watch under the wheel trick is from Chinatown. Jake Gittes (Jack Nicholson) uses this trick to keep tabs on Evelyn Mulwray's (Faye Dunaway) husband.
