xxmass
I Would Love If TCM Would Show More Laurel, And Hardy Films Each Month. TCM Repeats Many Movies Each Month, And That's Fine With Me, Mainly Because I Love Films. A Few Months Ago TCM Gave Me And Many others A Great Gift, A Laurel, And Hardy Marathon. I'd Love To See This Happen At Least More Then Once a Year. Even Though I Enjoy Chaplin, Keaton And Abbott, And Costello They Don't Compare With L/H. Now Of Course This Is Only My Opion, What's Yours??. I'll Look Forward Seeing Others Reply To My Post. Sincerly, Xxmass.
movieslover1000
I agree with you about seeing more Laurel and Hardy. Unfortunately, most of their films are owned by Hallmark, not TCM.
bhryun
I love Stan and Babe and would love to see more of their films on TCM as well. In my book they were the greatest comedy team of all. I love "The Music Box" and my favorite feature is "Blockheads" thou I also love "Sons of the Desert" "Way out West" too--heck I like 'em all, even some of the Fox/MGM films they did during the 40's. xxmass
Hi Chuck, And Movielover In my opion Sons Of The Desert Was There Best. The 1940s MGM Films Were Very Diapointing. There Worst Was There Swan Film Utopia, Yuk Lol.It Was Not Only A Low Budget Film, But It Was Sad to see Them Trying so Hard To to be Funny, As there Past Films. When I Lived In Los Angles Back in the 1980s I would Vist Stans Grave At Least twice a Year. To this Day I Still Get a Tear in My Eye Thinking About Those Days. Movielover I Read Your Response To My Post And Disagreed With One Thing You Said. Even Though Hallmark owns L/H Films TCM Showed Most Of There Films A Few Months Ago, Including Some Of There Shorts. I Want To Thank You Both For Your opions, And Remarks. It's Great To See How You Both Enjoyed Them As Much As Myself. Please Keep In Touch Take Care And I Hope To Hear From You Both In The Very Near Future. Sincerly, Xxmass/
therealfuster
their old movies, I'd like to resee that special from tv, done by Dick Van Dyke that was supposed to be a tribute to Stan. Apparently Stan did not care for it, and I think the best tribute is to show more of the honoree, than of the tributer imitating them, which Dick seemingly forgot to do! Just like Chuck Berry told Keith Richards, that he did not need his assistance in playing some of the guitar bits of his songs, at his tribute concert....since he'd been playing them quite well for years without the aid of Keith, knowing that Keith might hog the show and take the spotlight off where it should be, a tribute needs less talk and action from others, and more about its subject matter. Stan and Ollie are incomparable and I always enjoy them in anything, and their appearance on "This is Your Life" is one of the cutest from the series, and I treasure owning it on video. They are surprised in an elevator as I recall, and both immediately go into character, with Ollie flipping his tie and Stan being so shy and retiring. Classic stuff! xxmass
Hi Thereaalfuster, Thank You For That Dick Van Dyke Triva. While Being a laurel, and Hardy Fan, I Was Unaware of Stan Dislike Towards The L/H Skit On the Dick Van Dyke Show.I Personly Loved It. As Far As The You Bet Your Life Show I Have A Copy Of It And Watch It At Times, But I'd Ratter Watch There Films, Or Shorts. One Film Which i had'nt Mention Was The March Of the Wooden Soldiers. When My Dauthers Were Young I put On This Film On The VCR, And Watched There Reaction. Ouch One Of My Dauthers Ran To The Other Room, While My Other Dauther sat There Scared Stiff LOl. I Had Too Explain To Her There Was No Such Things As Boggeymen. Now That My Dauthers Are Grown, They Love L/H As Much As They Did When They Were Young, Go Figure LOl. Thanks Again For The Trivia On Dick Van Dyke Show. Keep In Touch Sincerly, Xxmass.
therealfuster
welcome, but I need to clarify. The show I am referring to, was not the skit on the sitcom, "The Dick Van Dyke Show", but was a totally separate variety show special that Dick did as a tribute to Stan. I was not sure it would be listed on IMDb, but here it is: "Salute to Stan Laurel (1965) (TV) Directed by Seymour Berns Writing credits Charles Isaacs Allan Manings Plot Outline: A program featuring original comedy skits written as a tribute to Stan Laurel. Lucille Ball .... Herself Fred Gwynne .... Herman Munster Danny Kaye .... Himself Buster Keaton .... Himself Leonid Kinskey .... Himself Tina Louise .... Herself Audrey Meadows .... Herself Bob Newhart .... Himself Louis Nye .... Himself Cesar Romero .... Himself Phil Silvers .... Himself Dick Van Dyke .... Himself" This is the show I meant, and the news was that Stan did not think of it as much of a tribute. That's all I remember. Hope you get to see it sometime, and keep enjoying Stan and Ollie! ? I Misundrestood, Or Took It For Granded That The Skit On The Van Dyke Show Was What You Were Refering too. Boy Do I Feel Like I Have Pie On My face LOl. I'll Search My Sources, And See If i Can Get a Copy Of That Show. Speak With You Soon Sincerly, Xxmass.
