IcelandAlive
My dad has been asking me to search for an old black and white movie he watched decades ago. All he remembers is that a young boy and his horse, named Flag, go off to war in the Pacific theatre during the Second World War. Likely dated around the 1940's. Also, he thinks that Flag could be the title but so far nothing has come up. If you know anything about this movie I would appreciate any references and if there are any other classic movie databases that I could search please let me know. MilesArcher
Your dad's memory may be fading a bit. It sounds like the movie "Gallant Bess". I believe that it's in color and has been shown on TCM. It stars Marshall Thompson. Flag was the name of the fawn in "The Yearling", which was made around the same time. It's not unusual for questioners on this thread to confuse two movies. It has been a long time since they were made.
IcelandAlive
Thank you Miles Archer, "Gallant Bess" is the one. Whew! Google is a wonderful tool, but it doesn't connect the dots the way people do. Glad you could help.
