Did anybody see it? This is a typically fast paced proletarian Warner Brothers drama, written by the same guy who wrote other truck driving stories turned into excellent films,.namely THEY DRIVE BY NIGHT and THIEVES HIGHWAY. The game cast is headed by Ann Sheridan and Ronald Reagan, and filled out with many members of the WB stock company.

I like this film, even if it does turn typically melodramatic in the Warners style towards the end. Ann Sheridan was perfection in appearance, her juke bar singer reminding me in many ways of her roadside waitress in They Drive By Night. I just wish the script and dialogue had been as good as in the previous film.

No other studio had the same touch as Warners when it came to portrayals of working class heroes and heroines.

Ann Sheridan - hard boiled on the surface, but a peach underneath
