The late Ray Harryhausen was one of the most beloved figures in the history of science fiction/fantasy cinema. He was, however, first and foremost a genuinely warm and humble man whose friendship of nearly fifty years duration was one of the most cherished gifts that I've ever known. Here, then, is the story of our friendship.

Thanks for the interesting post and link. I just recently watched a dvd of "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms" (on a double bill with "Them" ) and there is some neat commentary from Ray Harryhausen about the making of "The Beast" , one of his first creations.
