PrinceSaliano
I received several of these as gifts. Some of them do not play on DVD recorders, specifically BELLE OF THE NINETIES and THE MONSTER AND THE GIRL. Not happy about this! sfpcc2
The same thing happened to me with a DVD I order from CD Universe. I'm not going to say what is, but lets just say our tastes are very different.
faceinthecrowd
Are these DVDs that are not Region 1? In that case you need an all-region DVD player.
Janet0312
I just bought a blue ray player. I bought some Abbott and Costello movies on DVD. Side 1 played fine, but when I flipped the disk to play the other films, I got the Universal logo and then nothing. Next day I tried it again and it played. Weird. hamradio
Make certain the surface is perfectly clean, I've discovered even the smallest fingerprint can cause problem in reading the disc. If this don't work, try them on a DVD player only. There should be some type of warranty, ask for a replacement if all else fails. Here is some information regarding compatibility between regions, systems, etc. http://www.ebay.com/gds/WHY-THIS-DVD-WONT-PLAY-IN-MY-MACHINE-/10000000001178557/g.html
MovieFanLaura
The Universal Vault DVDs are "MOD" (manufactured on demand) DVDs like the Warner Archive discs, and these typically are meant to be played on "play only" devices so they can't be copied. Some MOD discs actually say that on the packaging. They often won't play on laptops, either, although I've found some exceptions. I'm not certain if the TCM Vault discs are the same, but this is normal and not a glitch.
