Question: Movie About Dutch West Indies Civilians Interned by Japanese

Recommended Posts

I'm just curious if anyone can identify this movie. It was in black and white and about civilians being interned after the Japanese occupation of the Dutch West Indies. I only caught a portion of it, so I don't really have any more details. There were no male actors in the scenes that I saw.

You might try Three Came Home, though it took place in Borneo, I think.

I read the book last year and it was really good...haven't seen the old movie starring Claudette Colbert yet.  I read another similar book called, "Evidence not seen" by a missionary wife in Dutch New Guinea who was also interned by the Japanese, but I don't know if it was a movie as well.  There were other Dutch civilians imprisoned with her...women and young children were always in separate camps from the men.  Again, a very good read about this part of history, but heartbreaking.
