revrnd
I'm just curious if anyone can identify this movie. It was in black and white and about civilians being interned after the Japanese occupation of the Dutch West Indies. I only caught a portion of it, so I don't really have any more details. There were no male actors in the scenes that I saw.
Guest
You might try Three Came Home, though it took place in Borneo, I think.
markfp2
Another, that I'm pretty sure TCM has shown, is the British film A TOWN LIKE ALICE (1956) which stars Virginia McKenna and Peter Finch.
swimminginaqua
You might try Three Came Home, though it took place in Borneo, I think. I read the book last year and it was really good...haven't seen the old movie starring Claudette Colbert yet. I read another similar book called, "Evidence not seen" by a missionary wife in Dutch New Guinea who was also interned by the Japanese, but I don't know if it was a movie as well. There were other Dutch civilians imprisoned with her...women and young children were always in separate camps from the men. Again, a very good read about this part of history, but heartbreaking.
