Cagney films are featured on TCM very often since Cagney was a Warner Brothers star. TCM shows Angels at least a few times per year. So hang in there I'm sure it will be shown soon. Cagney was Star of the Month in 2008 so it might be a few years before he is again. But since Cagney is one of the most featured male actors on TCM one doesn't have to wait long for TCM to show a Cagney film.

crazyblonde7
I was hoping that a Cagney Festival would have been shown on the 28th anniversary of his death March 30th. I guess we'll have to wait. Maybe on July 17th for his birthday they will feature him?

JamesJazGuitar
Nice line up of early Cagney; many films just over an hour. I'm trying to get my wife into these type of Warner 'programmers'. She is from Italy and though she speaks and understands English very well the quick talking and action in these early 30's films can throw her off. I also have to remind her to NOT get distracted. If one turns away from these films for a few minutes one can miss a birth, a wedding and a funeral (sometimes all for the same person!).

Having seen them all, I'd especially recommend 5 of them: Footlight Parade, Hard to Handle, Lady Killer, Picture Snatcher, and Jimmy The Gent. If anyone hasn't seen the "Shanghai Lil" song and dance number at the end of Footlight Parade, they're missing what may be the best musical scene in the history of film. Here's "Shanghai Lil" in its entireity on YouTube, which is unusual, since it usually gets removed almost as soon as it gets put up. It's the first time in many months that I've found it up there for more than a brief clip or two: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xjzpoy_footlight-parade-shanghai-lil-1933_music
mrroberts
A rather through review of early Cagney at Warner Bros, after his break out success in "The Public Enemy". The studio wanted to play up that cocky little tough guy image for Cagney , which he soon tired of and then he aggressively started to lobby for other kind of characters to play. I remember "Taxi" as being a rather entertaining film and offers a 19 year old Loretta Young as Cagney's leading lady. And this is the film that comes closest to giving us that famous "You dirty rat" line that became an unofficial Cagney trademark. And "Here Comes the Navy" is a film that is a favorite of mine because of the great film footage of the Navy of 1934 and the scenes aboard the battleship Arizona.
