George Brent's Derry Air

Recommended Posts

Just as there are men who like women with huge rear ends, there may be some women for whom a fat flabby rear end in a man is the rear end of choice.

True. Not for me though. (LOL)......

That's what a decade of eating and gravity will do. Maltin's review

didn't think much of it either. I'll probably watch it as it's only about

ninety minutes long, so not much harm done if it turns out to be

a dog.

It was just ok. It seemed a rip off of another movie made at the same time, but I wont spoil it for you (similar plot)........

So what did you think of Perilous? Didnt it seem a rip off of the plot of an Ingrid Bergman film from that time frame? (not sure if you watched it, so dont want to spoil the plot).........

It turned out to be a pretty dull affair. In his intro, Uncle Bob said

that it wasn't all that great a movie, so one needed to adjust one's

expectations. I don't think it was a direct ripoff of Gaslight, as it

was based on a novel. Probably just a case of coincidental timing

that two similar movies were released close together. It had a

few good moments and some good visuals, but other than that,

not much to enjoy. I had a problem following some of the plot.

Okay, Lukas is old enough to be Hedy's daddy, so he is naturally

jealous of younger man paying attention to her, and then we

find out he killed one suitor and he's trying to keep her in the

mansion and he has a stepson, etc. Seems like much ado about

very little. Some of the sets reminded me of The Magnificent

Ambersons, and since they were both RKO productions, maybe

there was some sharing. I give this one a C.

Now to the important thing--just a few shots of Georgie's bum, looking

fairly average, though it's hard to tell since he is usually wearing suits.

Since, back in the day, most men wore suits most of the time, they could let their rear ends grow to monstrous proportions without anyone noticing (noticeing?). Today, it's a whole different ball game.

Yeah, I seem to remember he kept it covered. Didnt realize it was based on a novel. Seemed to me they were ripping off Gaslight. Guess maybe they thought the plot would "sell" since Gaslight was so popular.........

I don't know the exact timing of the releases of each movie,

so maybe they were already working on Experiment Perilous

when Gaslight came out. They certainly have similar plots.

As we all know, we exaggerate GB's rear size, so in the mid

1940s it really wasn't that big.

Hibi, does the panel just above where you write your responses

get very faint when you make a reply? Mine does, so I can't

use bold or italicize or post pictures, etc. And the font is

now that plain newspaper style, whatever it is called. This

started late yesterday and is still doing it today. Just wondering

if it's my computer or everybody's.

Where the icons are? I dont think so. They always look light to me.

Yep, back in the day a suit jacket covered a lot of junk in the

trunk, just like hats covered up a lot of bald heads. Of course

sooner or later the jacket and hat had to be taken off.

So, you thought your date was a real stud, only to find that he was bald, with a huge a s s.

Okay, I found it. Yesterday I must have accidentally hit the icon at the very

top left, the square that looks a bit like an old floppy disk. I suppose that

controls the shade of the panel or disables it. Whatever. If they were only

all this easy to fix.

LOL. I'll have to remember that. Those mis-keyed ones are a nuisance!
