George Brent's Derry Air

I was wondering how a thread started going on 4 years ago about George Brent's Derry Air could still be generating enough interest to keep popping-up.

Curiosity finally got the best of me, and I took a look. Glad that I did.

Don't know how it happened (I haven't read back far enough, yet) but somehow this thread has been hijacked by the subject of Donald Trump. One would think that he'd be thrilled with all the attention he's getting.

I think that we should nominate Arturo for the post of Magnus Poet Laureate

I am literally amazed at the prolificity of these little limericks.

I'm being serious when I say, they need to be published, or at least be made available in a forum (or forums) to a much larger audience.

These little timely gems should not be hoarded by us on this thread, or restricted to these boards.

They need to be shared with the rest of a "thinking" America and the world. ;)

I second that thought! In today's market, you could easily compile them, write up a quick preface, and e-publish using Amazon or some other site.

Actually the thread is much older than that. It started as George Brent's Rear End on the old boards. But the powers that be wouldnt bring the thread over here, so MorrisSteele started another one. So it's probably about 8 years or so total. We lost some great limericks and rear ends shots on that one. :( I think George would be pleased the focus is now on the BIGGER A-S-S!

General Kelly been trying to rein in Donald Trump

Failing to make Trump look less like a chump

"White House a Dump" so he shrugs

"New Hampshire cesspool of drugs"

Time to get rid of Chump Trump from that "Dump"!

Say that 3x fast!!! :D

haiku is good.

But I prefer the simple lyrical rhyming of limericks.

And as someone posted in another thread, they are as short as a "tweet" so even devoted Trump followers would be able to read and appreciate them.

But a taste for haiku, like Sake, may grow on us with a little more exposure, so have at 'em, Sepia :)

Thank you sir for the kind words. I have apologized half-heartedly here for hijacking this thread from George Brent, for a much bigger ****. He keeps supplying things that inspire me here, appalling though they may be. Thanks again.

No, I (we) thank you!

Keep Letting the creative juices flow....  for as long as they can!

One day (soon, lord willing), we will all have to look elsewhere for our source of sardonic humor (or humour)  -- heh, heh, let's see if Dargo pays attention to this thread. ;)

Trump's rhetoric emboldened White Nationalists during campaign

The Alt Right became a big part of his margin to win

Now when these thugs start a fight

The president's pronouncement was trite

Compared to others he couldn't even say who's to blame

Donald Trump keeps finding ways to look worse

POTUS with anti-semites and racists converse

Can't denounce their policy of hate

Lest it seals his reelection's fate

Trump and supporters this democracy have cursed.

Jeff Sessions a homophobe and racist

As AJ prejudice will persist

Par for the Trump White House

For Hate some staffers espouse

No Justice for any groups on the list.

Bannon is White House White Supremacist Supreme

And that skullheaded Miller is part of that scene

They got the ear of the Donald

Whose speech on hate late and hollow

From the White House these racists should be cleaned.
