VOTING THREAD for the 25th TCM Programming Challenge

Recommended Posts

That's great news! Congratulations, SansFin, you deserved to win!

I thank you for your kind words.

I have not forgotten that you were the first to vote for me. It is possible that I will one day forgive you for that.

SansFin - Start asap! June is my vote. (That's because I didn't get to write a schedule)

lzcutter - Thanks for the stats. Proud to be on the "multiple winner" list!

ALL - Thanks for participating and voting! It means a lot to me to get such a great response from so many veterans and new people. I love the creative ways everyone fulfilled the requirements. Maybe now TCM will finally show WHAT A WAY TO GO, eh?

Sansfin, Congratulations on your well-deserved win! I'll be most anxious to see what you concoct in the next Challenge. It was a very fine schedule and I will seek out that film.

LP, A great Challenge. I'm only sorry that the timing was bad for me. You had wonderful turnout from both regular posters and some newbies. Always a good thing.

LZCutter, thanks for posting those most interesting specs from the challenges. It's nice to know that path40 really started something enduring. Say "Hi" to Mr Cutter and the critters.

Congrats to Sansfin on another win!

I thank you for your kind words.

I believe that you omitted a very significant fact in your data: I feel it is outstanding that you won the very first Challenge! Your link to the Challenge was forged in the fire of its making.

I thank you for your kind words.

I have several ideas for the next Challenge. The difficulty is selecting a requirement which will be inspiring but which will not require extensive research or specialist knowledge.

Congrats SansFin! A victory well deserved.

I, too vote for the next challenge to start in June.  May is end of the quarter/end of the fiscal year at work for me.  While it wouldn't impact my ability to work on my schedule in the evenings in May, I don't know if I'll have enough energy to do anything beyond watching movies and drinking beer.

I look forward to the next theme and getting the next crack at schedule making.  Now that I have experience.

Could the new challenge begin in June? It would be heartily appreciated, as I love these programming challenges.

I feel that selecting the date is the most difficult part of hosting the Challenge.

I have decided to have it begin on June 1, 2014 if there are no dissenters. :)

Congrats SansFin! A victory well deserved.

I thank you for your kind words. Your schedule was wonderful also. It is sad that each and every schedule can not be celebrated in full as they deserve.

I do urge you to keep your entry in mind when you look at future schedules for TCM. The TCM Programmers are known well for using themes and premieres in actual schedules. It is truly a wondrous feeling when it happens. I feel that several of your themes have excellent odds of being used.

I hope you do understand that now that you have shown us what you can do that I expect a new schedule just as wonderful in the Challenge I will be hosting. :)

Thanks.  I'm hoping they use my SOTM idea! I'll be watching out for my "Twist of Lemmon" theme.  I thought that was rather clever, if I do say so myself.

I hope I can come up with some new ideas; I used some good ones on the first one.  I think I've already got a SOTM planned.  The real difficulty for me will be coming up with a silent movie and foreign one.  Those aren't typically the genres of film that I seek out.  I already used my foreign film idea.  I'll have to research that one.  For the Underground Saturdays, I've always got bad Z-list movies up my sleeve!  It's too bad I've already used "The Amazing Colossal Man," that was my favorite pick.

Congratulations SansFin for a great schedule and to Lonesome Polecat for such an interesting challenge! Thanks to everyone who submitted a schedule since they were all wonderful and

quite inventive.

Most number of Challenges participants:

Fedya (24)

I'm sorry to say this isn't accurate. My first Challenge was #5, and I missed at least on in between, so I've participated in no more than 20 of them.

Apologies for not voting, either, but the past few weeks have been busy for me and I never really got around to reading everybody else's schedules.

Fedya,

I think what lzcutter meant by 24 was the most number of participants taking part in a single Challenge hosted by that person.

I do not understand that tally as my fiance has entered six times and he was not listed. I believe it does not represent what I think it represents.

I do hope that you are clearing your schedule so that you may treat us to one of your excellent schedules in June!

Sounds like we all want June! Because it's June! June, June, June! Just because it's June!

It must be my perverse nature that my first instinct is to make the requirement for the Challenge to be a night of movies set in February. :)

I am now planning it for June. I would not have done that if it were not for those here wishing it. I had thought that it might not be appropriate because people needing time to recover. I must suppose that there is no perfect time.

My hope is not to disappoint. But, remember . . ."I don't use a pen. I write with a goose quill dipped in venom."

Sans and Fedya,

Thanks for alerting me to the tally problem!

It wasn't easy doing the recount but I have corrected the tallies for some of the participants. It reflects the number of Challenges (including moderating) that posters have participated in over the last eight years.

I went back through all the Challenges and compared them against my notes. It wasn't easy because not all of the threads migrated and of those that did, some were messed up.

But, in doing so, I realized that my numbers for filmlover, Fedya, Capuchin, Kyle and a couple of others were off.

I have since corrected them.

I do readily admit that math was never my forte!

Now we know why!

As for the threads that didn't make the migration. I put together a list of them and will let TCM know, Hopefully, they will be able to find them and bring them over.

Hey, I did mine really fast and look at the great schedules I got. I guess if people can't recover they just won't do it that time. But maybe you'll get all those who couldn't get a schedule in this time, eh?

I truly hope that my Challenge receives such an array of wonderful schedules!

I believe it would be quite splendid if each and every entrant would use their very best ideas and craft their schedules to perfection. That would deplete their store of ideas and sap some of their energy so that the competition will be less stiff for the following Challenge when I will again be able to compete. ;)

Congrats SansFin for the winning schedule. You obviously have a natural talent for doing these challenges. Any job offers from TCM yet?  :)  Soooo, movies that take place in February? Brrrrrrrrrrr that's cold!!! :)

I thank you for your kind words.

I believe that I have much less talent than most here. I try to keep in mind at all times the sage wisdom of W.C. Fields: "“If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with b.s..”
