ChristineHoard
Be sure to watch Sparrows if you haven't seen it, especially for Pickford fans and fans of melodrama. Look for the swamp sequence which holds up to this day.

1kaleman
Never realized William Haines was such a fine comedy actor until "The Smart Set."He reminded me of Jack Lemmon and a bit of Tom Hanks No wonder he was tops at the box office in 1930! He gave depression audiences laughs and humor then. And even today his acting style doesn't seem dated and is fun to watch.
mr6666
late Sun., 5-18 12:15 AM 99 min romance Divine Lady, The (1929) Lady Hamilton's love affair with Admiral Nelson rocks the British Empire. Dir: Frank Lloyd Cast: Corinne Griffith , Victor Varconi , H. B. Warner . LEONARD MALTIN REVIEW: D: Frank Lloyd. Corinne Griffith, Victor Varconi, H. B. Warner, Ian Keith, Marie Dressler, Dorothy Cumming, Montagu Love. "Lloyd won an Oscar for directing this lavishly appointed if bowdlerized account of the scandalous affair of Lady Emma Hamilton and Lord Nelson. Lloyd, who later made MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY, stages some exciting sea battles, while the sumptuous sets, costumes, and photography create a convincing period look. Silent with some synchronized singing sequences. Same story was later told in THAT HAMILTON WOMAN and THE NELSON AFFAIR."
