DJBeacon
Thanks. In which of the Margaret Rutherford / Miss Marple films does Inspector Craddock announce to Miss Marple he has been promoted to Chief Inspector (thanks to her success)? And where does he make the announcement?
Azure
I think that it was in Murder Most Foul. He was in the hospital when he made the announcement.
DJBeacon
Excellent Azure, yes Craddock was in a hospital bed with his head all wrapped in bandages. Your thread.

Azure
Was it The Robe? Correct! Your turn, Star.
starliteyes
Well, since this is "trivia for the other 98% of us," this should be a very easy one. This star's first screen test evaluation read "Can't act. Can't sing. Balding. Can dance a little." Name the star.
MarshaKatz
So much for lousy screen test evaluations. Especially when it's one for the one and only incomparable Fred Astaire.
starliteyes
Totally agree, Marsha! Your thread.
MarshaKatz
Thanks, Star. Jack Lemmon starred in the movie versions of two Neil Simon stage plays. Please name the two Simon plays. Extra credit for naming the actors who starred in the roles in the original Broadway stage productions of these two plays.
Azure
It was The Odd Couple (originally with Walter Matthau and Art Carney) and The Prisoner of Second Avenue (originally with Peter Falk and Lee Grant).

Azure
Well, I know that happens in Double Indemnity. Is that the film you're thinking of?
Kid Dabb
It sure enough is! Thank you, Azure. Your thread
Azure
Thanks, Kid. Double Indemnity is one of my favorites. By the way, if anyone is interested in watching Double Indemnity, it will be shown on TCM tomorrow (Saturday) night at 8 pm ET. Next: In which film do the two main characters call each other "Slim" and "Steve"? (Please name the 2 actors as well.)
MarshaKatz
The film is "To Have and Have Not" and "Steve" is Humphrey Bogart and "Slim" is Lauren Bacall. I can watch this movie over and over - love it.
Azure
The film is "To Have and Have Not" and "Steve" is Humphrey Bogart and "Slim" is Lauren Bacall. I can watch this movie over and over - love it. Correct! Yes, this is a great movie. Your turn, Marsha.
MarshaKatz
Thanks, Azure. Ok. I think this question should not be too difficult to answer. An unemployed eccentric genius is interviewed for a position and is rudely turned down by the owner of the company who is the sponsor of a TV quiz show. To get even, the eccentric genius becomes a contestant on the quiz show in order to bankrupt the owner. Name the movie and the two actors who play the eccentric genius and company owner/sponsor. The title of the movie is a specific "character". Extra credit for naming the voice of this "character".
MarshaKatz
Clue: The actor portraying the eccentric genius character is known for his marvelous speaking voice.
starliteyes
"Marvelous speaking voice" - Who else could that be but Ronald Colman? So I would have to say Ronald Colman in Campagne for Caesar as my final answer.
MarshaKatz
Starlit, You're correct on both Ronald Colman, the eccentric genius, and the name of the movie "Champagne for Caesar". We still need the name of the actor who plays the company owner/sponsor of the TV quiz show and who is Caesar, the title character. Also extra credit for the name of the person who is the voice of Caesar.
DJBeacon
If it was a voice, then odds are it was supplied by Mel Blanc.
MarshaKatz
If it was a voice, then odds are it was supplied by Mel Blanc. DJB - You're correct -Mel Blanc was the voice of "Caesar". Now we still have two unanswered questions remaining - Who is the actor who portrayed the company owner/sponsor of the TV quiz show and who is "Caesar" from the title "Champagne for Caesar".
