lavenderblue19
How about James Darren, there's also Ricky Nelson ?? James Darren's first film was in 1956 and was in quite a few films before he sang the theme song for GIDGET (not sure if this was a single) and became well known from that film. His big hit of Goodbye Cruel World was in the very early '60's after his film career had begun. Ricky Nelson was a very young kid when he first became well known on THE ADVENTURES OF OZZIE & HARRIET. He didn't record songs until later on. (you didn't specify film actor, he was a tv actor first although later Ricky appeared in films).

DownGoesFrazier
Shelley Fabares ? Shelley was NOT a consistently big-selling recording artist. This singer was, and her market was adults rather than teenagers.
DownGoesFrazier
Shelley was NOT a consistently big-selling recording artist. This singer was, and her market was adults rather than teenagers. Hint: She may have been best known for commercials for a certain product.
starliteyes
I don't know anything about the commercials, but I'm taking a guess that it's Julie London.

starliteyes
Well, not being a GUY or a smoker, I guess that explains it. Anyway -- This actor was considered to be one of the best dressed men in Hollywood and pioneered the concept of the political image consultant in the days of early television by advising President Eisenhower on how to most effectively present himself to television viewers. laffite
Welcome to the 98% Club ! Bonanza is correct, laffite - Thank you Your thread Thank You! I will continue being a member despite the fact that I'm a member (I am afflicted with Woody Allen Disease, which is pretty serious because I don't even have an analyst) I strive also for the 99.99999% Club as it seems to be commensurate with another affliction I have, what Woody Allen would call "sub-mental." Next: Name at least three actors who have played King Henry VIII. There may be more than three but three's enough because those are the only ones I know. More than three and you are a superstar! Be sure to include a rather early one that I'm thinking of. :-D --

Robert Shaw in A Man for All Seasons (1966) 2. Charles Laughton in The Private Life of Henry VIII (1933) Who can come up with the third? The one I'm looking for was prior to Laughton. The role is by a famous actor of the times. Whoever gets this will have the last laugh. ---

That is amazing! The one I was thinking of was Emil Jannings in the 20s. The phrase "the last laugh" in the previous post was supposed to be an embedded clue as to his identity. The title where he played the King is Anne Boleyn, made in 1920. Sixes, thanks for the info, an interesting tidbit, to say the least. Your thread

laffite
Gee, I'd hate to see the type of question that's for the top 2% of us. You said recently in answer to one of my posts that you were too busy posting to google anything. ;-). I would think that the answer to this question is easily google-able. You refuse probably because you seem constitutionally averse to the google machine ;-). I refuse (at least for now) because it's too easy. I love that movie and I recall that the nephew is a little boy. I think I know the name and I'm hoping that it might come to me. I don't have anything against researching answers, just that in this case, I want to remember it if I can. Someone else will surely get it before that happens...
