The Prisoner of Second Avenue

To me this is the late great Jack Lemmon's last good comedy outing on screen. Yeah, I know there were other films after this like Buddy, Buddy with Matthau in '81 and even after that The Odd Couple II again with Matthau. One obvious deficit of contemporary Hollywood is no more good Neil Simon comedies. Helluva shame.

A Lemmon favorite, for sure. It's as if he takes the "I'm mad at you, Oscar!" to the limit. Jack Lemmon really can be a one-man-show and when he's got someone to bounce off of, well.. that's just icing on the cake.

Yeah, it was a good performance by Lemmon.  I think highly underrated.

Note he attacks a still largely unknown SYLVESTER STALLONE in the park.

Lemmon may be my favorite actor, but I believe he may have been TOO consistently strident in this one. He was like his THE OUT-OF-TOWNERS character on steroids.
