Enlisted in the Marines during WWII , was a pilot who took part in the air supply and evacuation of wounded Marines from Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze stars and the World War II Victory Medal.
