6) Was married twice.  Primula Rolla from 1940-1946, until her death and Hjordis Genberg 1948-1983, until his death.  His first wife died while attending a party at Tyrone Power's house.  While playing hide and seek she opened a door to the basement which she mistook for a closet and fell down a flight of stairs.  She died from her injuries.

8.  The title of his autobiography "Bring on the Empty Horses" is a quote from Michael Curtiz.  While directing "Charge of the Light Brigade" the Hungarian Curtiz wanted the riderless horses to advance and called out "bring on the empty horses!"
