bhryun
C'mon TCM! No Universal horror classics? You can do better than that! What happened? With the exception of something new like the Incredible Shrinking Man, and some old Lon Chaney favorites, Im sorry to say, but this October on TCM is going to be pretty dull... bhryun
I checked the October schedule the other day and there's supposed to be Universal Frankenstein movies on for most of the month.
bhryun
Just checked it. Not a real universal classic monster movie in sight! Except for the Incredible Shrinking Man (Which is really fifties sci fi), The Uninvited (Paramount, but Universal Owned,) and Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein (ONE COMEDY.) nsallieharding
Your disappointed with the October menu on TCM, I only get Flix, TMC, Showtime Shocase, ShowToo,Sundance, Flix and IFC schedules a month at a time. Watch more channels and you won't be so dissatisfied.

tcmviewer
The October schedule looks great to me. Tons of Val Lewton, Hitchcock (including early British films), and some great 30s horror flicks. TCM is a Warner company. The do not have the Universal catalog at their immediate disposal. There are licensing considerations that dictate what they can show. Personally I'd rather have TCM show all the hidden gems that they do than a series of Universal horror flicks that are readily available on home video at cheap prices. Keep up the good work TCM. crawdaddy56
I'm very happy with the October lineup because I already have all of those better known Universal classics on dvd. I think the showing of these smaller horror films is a good opportunity to those that have never or rarely seen them.
bhryun
Yea I'm happy with it too. I'm anxious to see "Horror Castle" and "Castle Of The Living Dead" both starring Christopher Lee. I have heard of these two movies but have never see them, should be good
bollywood101
Not a horror film, but don't neglect "Pursuit," scheduled for 11 October at 9 AM. This only plays about once every ten years (I think it was last run in '97) but is a superior 30s B-pic, with good leads by Chester Morris and Sally Eilers, an excellent script by Wells Root, and a lot more exterior work than usual for the day. It's nice to see the Uni horrors, but they are quite easily available and have had several October (and other) runs on TCM already. I'd rather see something different, maybe some of the non-Hammer UK horror films (Amicus, Tigon, &c) and definitely some continental stuff. The Mario Bava salute a couple of years ago was a great idea. A program of Italian Gothic horror films from the 50s and 60s (Freda, Margheriti, Bava) would be nice, as would a selection from the 60s work of Jess Franco. Not that I would turn up my nose at an evening of Bollywood and Lollywood horror classics!
spencerl964
Hope I am writing directly to author of this one? precodefan,-(please let me know either way) However, I must cover soo-many other boards, sites, etc But, I always have said this & will continue to do so-(unless they screw-up or something to that effect?) TCM is, via metaphor, the: "Kane" or *"Godfather" of all websites! "Thee Mt. Summit" But, I need your help here fellow fans. How are you gals/guys able to look up that schedule already? I get "Now Playing" & due look at next mo. schedule a wee-bit on here-(P.S. I will use this for yet another "COMPLAINT" as well, to (tcmwebmaster.) I am only getting upcoming schedule(s) & for the 1st time in 4yrs or better, NO "Newsletter Updates?"-(thanx to our great cinephile of whom has his own 4 star site at www.classicfilmguide.com) He has been sending me his? RIDICULOUS, that we the fans have to go to such levels??? I get the likes of rottentomatoes.com & others far-less of merit than this, what is the finest of all. SO WHATS THE PROBLEM YOU GUYS? I recall having to assist a couple others with same nonsense happening to them in the past 4 years. On this topic though, you folks from what I gather, have hit the "Bullseye!" I've never particularly been a big fan of U.K.'s Horror Cinema to begin with. Especially in comparsion with "Universal Horror" (TRIVIA: Although, "Guinness" accurately cites *Donald Crisp-(1880-1974) & Ward Bond-(1903-60) as record holders for appearing in most pix. An estimated avg of 450 to the former! & over 250 to the latter underrated character actor from *Ford's stock company. England's Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee have also put their time in, to be sure. Maltin's book cites each with an estimated 100 to 150-(though Leonard often doesn't include a few) Thanx & H.E.L.P.!!!!!

bhryun
I checked the schedule again and now there are no Frankenstein movies on it. I noticed that Wolf (1994) is on it. How about showing Mary Shelley's Frankenstein also from 1994 in October?
