Main rational is *Crowe's powerhouse work as Maximus. & I know it's off the target, but you likely know about K. Douglas-(l9l6-) history & Natalie Wood-(l954 when she was 16, it was her despicable mother's fault too Maria!) I used to like him too & can still somewhat separate him on screen from what he did & then there was a 1947 murder of a actress's in bit roles in his flix early on. It occurred in Griffith Park. she was alledgedly pregnant as well Forget her name at present, tired. & chocked to death Just binge watched 22hrs of MADONNA! & not her rather silly yet stunningly sexy vids, but her epic concerts Don't go by me or others, intelligent as you are check it all out The Susan Finsted Natalie Book I own really covers it too. What started as a rumor in literature, then online & finally Robert Downey, Jr. really hit the mark about the viscous crime publicly-(you can easily locate the entire item online buddy) It wasn't only him though, but has long been a n awful Tinsel-Town item, just coming out full blown within the last 5-10yrs Though as u of all know Alex North lost once again for his strong scoring of Spartacus Winner instead was Exodus (Ernest Gold) but it's score was sparse, wasn't it. 1960 also had The Magnificent 7 (E. Bernstein) Speaking of Alex North among his finales was a short yet perfectly done IRISH drama The Dead by *John Huston, great score yet again, did you ever see it yet? TopBilled
Yes, I've seen John Huston's last film THE DEAD...I consider it one of his very best. As for Douglas, you have to judge his screen work...since what might have happened in his private life is open to speculation.

Sorry if that's a stupid question; I don't really know much about streaming. Not a stupid question, and thanks for asking. These films are currently on YouTube. Some are free (public domain) and some are studio-owned and you have to pay to watch them (typically $2.99). I don't know how long they will remain up. My guess is they will be posted on YT for awhile, the studio ones, since they are trying to make as much money as they can from them. The public domain ones should stay posted indefinitely. Hope I answered your question adequately!

I thought I would see one fairly long thread on the film I sure hope it's a sign of more early Columbia pics finally showing up on TCM, after many years of no new titles. Picture is sharp, but...I noticed it seemed to distort, as the camera panned . Was wondering if it was just me (I don't have a HD TV) or if anyone else noticed this. too tired to watch the whole movie, but 30 minutes in, seems much better than most College football flicks, I've seen, there is an actual plot! At first I thought it was laughable to have Richard Cromwell as a football player, but his small size is part of the plot (he is too small to play on the line, but is super fast, and agile) Roy William Neill is quite underrated as a director, IMHO.
